Lydia Rui
Director
Lydia Rui is an Australian-Chinese writer/director based in London. They won the 2020 Flickerfest Emerging Female Filmmaker Award and has been Australian Directors Guild Award nominated twice. They were one of eight 2022 MA of Directing Fiction graduates from the National Film & Television School, UK, which they attended with support from Screen Australia Enterprise and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust. In 2023, they were selected for the TorinoScriptLab, where they won the ARTEKino International Award. They also attended the TIFF Filmmaker Lab as an Every Story Fellow as well as ZFF Academy. They currently have a feature film in development with Screen Australia and another developed through Pulse Films. Their short films have screened at Tribeca, Melbourne International, Flickerfest International, Rhode Island International, HollyShorts, DOC NYC, Vimeo Staff Picked, acquired by Omeleto, TOPIC, and more.
