About us
EAST is a network of creatives working together to support British East and South Asians in Scripted Television. We aim to provide a forum for writers, directors, producers, agents and executives to come together to help improve the representation of East and South East Asians, both on and off screen - starting with the development side of UK scripted.
Originally co-founded by JT Wong, Emma Ko and John Jackson, EAST, was conceived because we just thought it was time.
Time to do something to improve the way we’re seen - and to make sure we are seen. We’ve been making great strides in some places, yet in others, it’s as hard as ever. Anti-Asian Hate surged when the pandemic started - in the UK as well as in the US. And, we are often the forgotten minority.
So, now is the time to do something practical - working with the industry - to make a change.
