What EAST is doing

  • EAST is creating a network of East Asian writers, directors, producers, agents and executives working in UK scripted television. In order to be useful, the aim is for the network to initially be quite focused, starting with the development side of scripted.

    Network events will include regular meet-ups and talks, with a view of improving opportunities for off-screen creative talent and executive leaders in the industry.

    We hope the network will encourage junior people in the industry as they will be able to meet people further along in their careers. For anyone that’s experienced the notion that all the Asians must know each other, we’re going to try to make that happen.

  • Network members are able to attend sessions covering career and industry advice with the EAST team and other relevant BESEAs.

    We also run the ASK ME ANYTHING series: an opportunity to learn more about the scripted TV industry from different perspectives - and learn about the career journeys of ESEAs working in the industry.

    We also hold MASTERCLASS sessions with non-ESEA experts, which

  • EAST has partnered with BBC Writers to deliver a mentorship programme. Mentees have been matched with experienced mentors.
